Door replacement

The old door comes out. The opening decides what goes back.

Replacement is the job of taking a worn door out and setting a new one in the hole that is left. Entry, hinged patio, and sliding doors are all that job, with different units.

We measure at the house, name the door and the installation on the quote, and haul the old one away.

The job

What the visit is for.

The style of door matters less than the opening. A pretty slab in a rotten jamb will draft the same week it is installed.

  • Measured, not guessed

Width, height, and the thickness of the wall are taken on site. A door ordered from a photo of the old one is how they come back wrong.

  • Slab or the whole frame

We say which one on the quote. Sound wood or a solid jamb can keep the frame. Rot means it goes.

  • Trim and the outside joint

Interior casing and the exterior cap or caulk line are in the scope. You should know what the finished opening will look like.

  • The old door leaves with us

Haul-away is part of the replacement. The old slab is not left in the garage.

Which door

Three openings, one way of working.

The measuring and the install are the same idea. The unit changes with the opening.

  • Entry

    The front of the house

Steel or fibreglass, with or without glass, and hardware that locks the way a front door should.

  • Hinged patio

A door that swings to the yard

One leaf or a pair, with the threshold set to the floor you have.

  • Sliding

    A door that rolls

Panels, track, and lock. If the sill is soft, the frame comes out with the glass.

Questions

Before you book the replacement.

How long is the house open?
A typical door is finished the same day it is started. We do not leave the opening uncovered overnight.
Can you replace a door I already bought?
We replace the doors we measure and supply. If a door is already on site, tell us first and we will say whether that opening is something we can take on.
Do you do the front and the patio on one visit?
They can be on one quote. The days depend on how many openings and whether the frames come out. We tell you the schedule before the work starts.
Where do I start if I only know the room?
The front door, the swinging door to the deck, and the slider are written up separately so the unit matches the opening. Start with entry doors

Ready to replace the door?

Tell us which opening it is. We will come out, check the frame, and send a quote that names the door and how it will be installed.

If spreading the cost out would help, ask about financing when we review the quote. See financing
